What is Youth Nexus?
Youth Nexus is a group of students from all over Butte County (Durham, Biggs, Gridley, Chico, & Oroville). The council funds community change projects, partipates in their own community service projects, participates in fundraising, and is actively engaged in youth issues within the community.

Youth Nexus applicants must:

1. Be between 14 and 20 years old
2. Participate in fundraising and service projects
3. Attend all mandatory meeting dates (see below)
4. Love to make a difference!

Members have the amazing opportunity to:

• Develop leadership skills
• Plan and host community service projects
• Learn about the grant making process
• Fund social change projects
• Sit on a subcommittee of interest (**All YN members have a chance to participate in each subcommittee, but choose one area to specialize in.)
• Attend youth development trainings

What do I get out of this? Youth Nexus Members will...

• Gain public speaking skills
• Participate in grant making
• Advocate for a youth voice in your community
• Partner with other community leaders to create/change policy
• Change how young people are viewed in Butte County
• Have a lot of FUN!!!

MEMEMBER APPLICATION 2007-2008

Please submit the following documentation.

1. Cover page including: name, mailing address (include city & zip code), contact phone number (home/cell), grade level, school & grade level, e-mail address (*all members must commit to checking e-mail regularly as well as checking the website for updates)
2. List the subcommittee of which you would like to be a part (Grant Making & Writing, Civic Action, or Community Service).
3. Parent Release Form (can be found at 109 Parmac Road, Suite 2A in Chico)
4. Separate sheet of paper answering the following questions in detail.

• Pick one word that best describes you and explain why.
• What do you see as the biggest issue facing young people today?
• What experience do you have in Club Live, Friday Night Live, and/or Youth Nexus?
• What training and skill building activities have you completed?
• Why it important that young people serve their community?
• Tell us why you want to be a member of Youth Nexus.
